Mourinho mocks Juventus and Lazio after Roma reach Europa League quarter-finals

Jose Mourinho took aim at Serie A rivals Juventus and Lazio after seeing his Roma side progress to the Europa League quarter-finals on Thursday.

Roma earned a 0-0 draw at Real Sociedad in the second leg of their last-16 tie, winning 2-0 on aggregate.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia after the game, Mourinho could not resist indirectly referring to Juventus, who also went through against Freiburg, claiming they should not have been allowed to move into the Europa League after being eliminated from the Champions League group stage.

He did directly mention Lazio though, who were beaten 2-1 on Thursday by AZ Alkmaar, losing 4-2 on aggregate to crash out of the Europa Conference League.

I don t care about the draw, there are teams there that in my opinion shouldn…

Bayern Munich 3-1 Tottenham: Group B winners too strong for much-changed Spurs

Bayern Munich completed a perfect Group B campaign with a 3-1 win over a weakened Tottenham in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Both clubs had already confirmed their places in the knockout stage, and several starting XI changes  including six made by Jose Mourinho  led to an open affair.

Bayern were superior for long periods after Kingsley Coman s early opener, although Ryan Sessegnon marked his full Tottenham debut with the equaliser six minutes later.

Thomas Muller replaced an injured Coman and put Bayern back in front on the stroke of half-time, before Phillipe Coutinho curled the Bundesliga side out of sight, the goal confirming a second defeat for Mourinho in charge of pool runners-up Spurs.

Phelan wants Hull job

Caretaker manager Mike Phelan has put his hand up to become the next permanent Hull City boss following Steve Bruce s departure.

Hull s preparations for their Premier League return were thrown into disarray when Bruce vacated his position on Friday due to a lack of transfer activity.

Bruce had guided Hull back into England s top flight via the play-offs last season, but Phelan – who became the Englishman s assistant at KCOM Stadium in early 2015 – is ready to fill the void.

I want to be a manager. I don t really see why I shouldn t want to be a manager. Time will tell. That decision doesn t sometimes come down to you, the former Manchester United assistant told the Hull Daily Mail.

I ve had a small chat and I was asked if I would carry on being in c…

Bradford City 0 Reading 0: Teams set for Madejski replay after stalemate

Bradford City and Reading will meet at the Madejski Stadium for a place in the FA Cup semi-finals after playing out a goalless draw at Valley Parade on Saturday.

The West Yorkshire outfit have developed a reputation for pulling off upsets in recent seasons, most notably seeing off Premier League leaders Chelsea in the fourth round of this year s competition, but were unable to get the better of their Championship opposition.

Pavel Pogrebnyak struck the left-hand post shortly before the half-hour mark as Reading looked to break the deadlock, but Bradford responded by finding the woodwork at the other end through Gary Liddle.

Bradford, who had scored 19 goals in six FA Cup matches this season before Saturday, looked the more likely to force a result as they dominat…
