Bookmaker:

Scotland welcome England to Hampden Park in a World Cup Qualifier match on Saturday evening where the two rivals will be looking for a win to boost their chances of travelling to Russia in 2018.

Scotland

Gordon Strachan’s men haven’t endured the best of qualifying campaigns so far and find themselves fourth in Group F having accumulated seven points from five games. A defeat to England in this next match will have a huge impact on whether Scotland manage to snatch a second-placed play-off spot from under the noses of Slovakia and Slovenia on nine and ten points respectively. However, they will be encouraged by their 1-0 victory over Srecko Katanec’s men last time out when Chris Martin scored an 88th minut…

Can wants Liverpool to avoid all-English quarter-final

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can would prefer to avoid playing an English club in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Jurgen Klopp s men cruised through the last 16, drawing 0-0 with Porto on Tuesday to complete a 5-0 aggregate success.

There could be five English clubs in the last eight, with Tottenham, Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United potentially joining Liverpool.

While Can is unfazed by his team s next opponents, he would like to avoid facing a fellow Premier League club.

I think you are wrong if you play a Champions League game and you don t find motivation, he said.

I think it was OK, we did our job and we are through the round. I prefer to not play an English team, but I don t care who.

Dortmund agree Schulz deal

Borussia Dortmund have agreed a deal in principle with Hoffenheim s Nico Schulz, according to .

The German outlet claim that neither Marcel Schmelzer, who is 31 and under contract for two more years, nor Jeremy Toljan (24, three more years, on loan at Celtic at the moment) are in the plans of head coach Lucien Favre for next season. Therefore, the club have been looking for a player to step into the left-back role, and they believe they found a good option in Schulz.

The report also says that, according to Sport Bild s sources, the Germany international has a buyout clause set between €25 million and €30 million, which Dortmund will likely have to activate in order to make Hoffenheim do a deal.

Schulz started out at Hertha Berlin in 2010 where he spent five …

Perisic dreaming of matching Croatia´s France 98 heroes

Ivan Perisic wants to replicate the miracle of France 98 with Croatia s current band of in-form stars.

Croatia entered their first World Cup 20 years ago and a much-celebrated team featuring the likes of Zvonimir Boban, Robert Prosinecki and Davor Suker stormed to the semi-finals before falling foul Aime Jacquet s hosts and eventual winners.

Authoritative wins over Nigeria and Argentina mean the Balkan nation are through to the knockout stages for the first time since and, driven by the midfield brilliance of Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic, starting to dream again.

There has been a lot of comparison between those two teams, said Inter winger Perisic.

They did a miracle in France in 1998. I was nine years old watching those games and dreaming about being i…

Manchester United want Fernandes

According to a recent report from Sky Sports News, Manchester United are very interested in the possibility of trying to sign Benfica midfielder Gedson Fernandes during the upcoming January transfer window.

At the age of just 20, Fernandes has been at a standstill with his club after not starting the last seven games due to a falling out with manager Bruno Lage. The belief is that United will attempt to take advantage of this by arranging a loan deal with a £34 million option to buy with whoever may be interested.

The official release clause in his contract is currently set at £102 million, but the Portuguese giants are now believed to be well aware of the fact that they aren’t going to get that sort of money for a player that isn’t even playing on a week to…

Norway 0 England 3: Neville´s side breeze into Women´s World Cup semis

England cruised into a second consecutive Women s World Cup semi-final courtesy of a dominant 3-0 win over Norway on Thursday.

After the unsavoury narrative surrounding England s ill-tempered last-16 win over Cameroon, the focus was back on football in the quarter-finals and, with defenders Steph Houghton and Millie Bright fit to start, Phil Neville s side controlled proceedings.

Jill Scott netted in a third different World Cup to put the Lionesses ahead, before Ellen White scored her sixth finals goal – the most ever for an England player – and fifth of this tournament.

The irrepressible Lucy Bronze added a brilliant third and England were able to take their foot off the pedal for the final 30 minutes, running out comfortable winners even with Nikita Parris …

Leicester City 2-0 Chelsea: Foxes go top and pile more pressure on Lampard

Leicester City underlined their status as Premier League title contenders after a 2-0 win over Chelsea sent the Foxes to the top of the table.

Under-pressure Chelsea boss Frank Lampard s hopes of building on a 1-0 win at Fulham last time out were dealt a blow inside six minutes when Wilfred Ndidi s strike from the edge of the area put Leicester in front.

After Chelsea were denied a penalty by VAR, James Maddison continued his rich vein of form to double Leicester s lead four minutes before half-time.

A lacklustre Chelsea side rarely looked like producing a comeback, meaning Leicester leapfrog both Manchester clubs to go top after 19 games or more for the first time since their title-winning 2015-16 campaign.

Lampard s side, meanwhile, find themselves nin…

Barcelona interested in Willian

According to a recent report from Sky Sports News, Barcelona are believed to be preparing an audacious late bid to try and sign Chelsea winger Willian. The bid is said to be worth around £20 million, with this potential move marking Barca’s latest attempt to sign a player that they’ve been admirers of for quite some time.

The hope is that whoever gets him to sign on the dotted line will be able to do so on a free transfer when his contract with Chelsea runs out in July, but Barca want to try and surprise everyone by beating them to the punch before the January transfer window comes to an end.

In the summer of 2018, and again this past summer, Barca made their intentions clear to Chelsea with a few sizeable bids to try and sign the Brazilian. Now, though, with h…

Liverpool didn´t earn the right to beat Real Madrid – Klopp

Liverpool must earn the right to progress to the Champions League semi-finals, something Jurgen Klopp said his side failed to do against Real Madrid on Tuesday.

Vinicius Junior scored either side of Marco Asensio s goal as LaLiga champions Madrid secured a 3-1 victory in the opening leg of the blockbuster tie, ahead of next week s return fixture at Anfield.

Mohamed Salah scored for Premier League holders Liverpool early in the second half, but the visiting Reds were the masters of their own downfall from a defensive perspective, especially in the opening 45 minutes.

The centre of much media discussion following his omission from Gareth Southgate s latest England squad, Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold endured a first half to forget in the Spanish capital as …
